Buying a Condo Investment VS Making an R.R.S.P. Contribution
Thursday, 12 November 2009, 10:16:16 PM
I recently examined this question for a client when they were trying to decide on continuing to make an annual R.R.S.P. contributuion OR considering a Condo Investment as a "Retirements Income Building" vehicle. Looking back,... After 2 years their $83,000 condo has been paid down by them (and the tenant of course) by some 12% and the property itself has appreciated in the market place by roughly 10%. The result ,... if we were to put that same unit back on the maket today they would gross approximately $25,000 pre tax,... Not bad for an initial 5% investment over the last 2 years in this investment climate.

So the next time your Investment Advisor calls for your R.R.S.P contribution perhaps consider a condo investment as a better alterantive
